Course Structure

All courses are taught by Certified Teachers of Adult Learners. All of the faculty are scholars in the tourism industry and current Tour Managers. Classes are limited to 10 – 12 students in order to provide specialized attention to each individual. Each teacher uses a multitude of teaching methods so that the participant has an interactive experience with each class. As a Tour Guide School we pride ourselves in placing participants in their new tour guide career. Tour Guide education is vital to the travel industry.

What is the responsibility of the Tour Manager if a passenger needs medical attention? All the logistics of managing a tour are presented during this section.

Presentation Skills (9 hours)

A Tour Manager must provide on-going commentary on a number of topics. This section will concentrate on putting together powerful presentations that will keep the coach passengers on the edge of their seats! We will discuss researching, getting over nervousness, putting together commentary, how to entertain while teaching and how to project your voice. How to have fun with the group while enjoying your new career.

Customer Service Skills (9 hours)

What is excellent customer service? What must be done so that the passengers are completely thrilled with their vacation experience? How do you ensure your tours are excellent time and time again? This section discusses every aspect of customer service with considerable focus on conflict resolution and problem solving.

Field Studies (3 days)

Towards the end of the class the students will conduct a 3-day coach tour together. Volunteers come along to simulate a passenger group and various problems are created for the students to solve. Time is spent in the field on walking tours, presenting commentary, and doing class research. You become a tour guide!

During the Field Studies, accommodation is provided through A. Nash Travel.
