TOUR GUIDE LICENCE

In Canada there are various laws surrounding guiding. Local By-laws in various cities dictate what permits or tour guide licence is required. Below is a list of cities that have special requirements for guides. If the city is not listed there is no regulation surrounding a tour guide licence.

Quebec City
The city of Quebec requires a licence for guiding within the city limits. The details are not currently available to the public. Please inquire directly to the city of Quebec. 1.877.Bonjour
Montreal
The city of Montreal requires a licence for all guiding within the city limits. This includes walking tours, coach tours and small group touring. Testing is required for each applicant as well as a learning component. For details on the Montreal Guide Licence click here.
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls Parks Commission requires that tour guides providing commentary along the Niagara Parkway and within the park have a guide licence. If you do not have a licenced guide on the coach they will provide one (for a fee). There is a self study guide for people wishing to obtain a licence.
